| What: | The 2008-2009 Missouri S&T Campus Performing Arts Series is going to be one of the best yet. The shows will open on September 21 with Garrison Keillor, American author, storyteller, performer, comedian and National Public Radio Artist. The season will also include; Shakespeare’s Comedy of Errors, by the Aquila Theatre Company on October 21, An Evening with Grammy winner Rita Coolidge on December 5, The Formosa String Quartet, who were first place winners of London’s string Quartet competition in 2006 on January 28, the Aspen Santa Fe Ballet on February 25, and The Glen Miller Orchestra on March 16. The 08-09 season will close with the Broadway Musical Ain’t Misbehavin’ with American Idol winner Ruben Studdard on April 5, 2009. Subscriptions to the 08-09 CPAS season are $180 for adults and $140 for youth for all seven shows. |

The CBCO is holding three blood drives on Tuesday, July 15th. The first one is in Crocker at the Crocker Christian Church, 16200 Highway 17 from 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM. Another is being held in St. James at the St. James Christian Church, 227 E. Scioto Street, and the third is in Salem at the First Baptist Church on West 3rd Street. |

| What: | Two minor earthquakes that rocked central Missouri this spring demonstrate the importance of earthquake preparedness in the region. Preparation for a significant quake along the New Madrid Fault is the subject of a conference to be held Aug. 12-14 here at Missouri University of Science and Technology. Developed by a pediatrician, the students learn through discussion, practice and role play about a wide variety of topics which include child care techniques, safety precautions, rescue breathing and care of a choking infant or child, recognizing and responding to emergency situations and managing common problem behaviors. | What: | A ‘deceivingly tougher’ Tour of Missouri will challenge the field of 120 world-class cyclists from 15 elite professional teams when they line up for the September 8th – 14th Tour of Missouri. Stage 4 starts in Lebanon at 11 AM on Thursday, September 11, and is expected to end in Rolla around 3 PM, in front of Missouri S&T's Castleman Hall. This is the first time in Tour history that a stage of the race has finished on a college campus. |
